Since 1895, Chi Omega Fraternity members have given their time and talent to provide service to others. In the late 1990s, the leaders of Chi Omega researched opportunities for establishing a national philanthropy. In 2002, they announced the Chi Omega/Make-A-Wish alliance.
Since the start of this alliance, Chi Omega has raised more than 12.9 million dollars and has accumulated over half a million volunteer hours for Make-A-Wish. Because of this commitment, the foundation recognizes Chi Omega as one of their Cause Champion sponsors. Through this, all Chi Omegas can understand the importance of serving others as a founding principle of our Sisterhood.
A wish granted not only provides hope, strength and joy to a child and their family, but it can provide a wish child with the ability and willingness to comply with difficult medical treatments, and the hope gained by that wish often improves a child's physical health.
Swishes for Wishes is one of the most fun events that we get to host! It’s an annual basketball competition between fraternities in our community lasting one week. Fraternity gentlemen participate in a 3v3 basketball tournament in addition to an eating contest, fundraising competition, and many other fun events!
All of our sisters love participating in this event that brings the University of Washington Greek Community together for fun events that benefit a great cause. The ladies of Alpha Chapter take on the role of team coaches for the various fraternities, making valuable connections throughout the Greek Community. All proceeds go toward supporting the Make-A-Wish foundation!
